The Humanists of North Puget Sound was founded more than twenty years ago with the purpose of informing humanists and others of the concept of separation of church and state as describe by Thomas Jefferson in his 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association.
In addition, it also endeavored to educate the general public on the fallacies and superstitions of religion and other irrational beliefs and their detrimental effects on culture, politics and society in general.
One of the most important role that the HNPS has played since it's beginnings, has been to foster a sense of belonging and community to many dissaffected and isolated Humanists and other freethinkers in the Puget Sound.
Currently the HNPS is using technology and networking along with communtiy activism to ensure that freethought will one day overcome superstition and outdated traditions.
